I Was Only Joking- President Buhari to Garba Shehu

The Senior  Assistant to the President on media and publicity, Garba Shehu,said President Muhammadu Buhari  was only joking with his remarks that his wife, Aisha, belongs to the kitchen and other rooms.

Shehu gave the explanation in a message disclosed on his Twitter. 

While saying that Buhari laughed before making the statement, Shehu said politics should sometimes be spiced up with humour.

The president wrote , “My friends, can’t a leader get a sense humour anymore? Mr. President laughed before that statement was made. He was obviously throwing a banter.

Those of us close to him knows there is never a dull moment with him. “Mr. President respects the place of women in our society. He believes in the abilities of women. “One of Nigeria’s most sensitive offices today is headed by a woman, Mrs. Adeosun. This is an evidence of the confidence he reposes in women.”

A Gang Of Criminals Were Arrested In Abia State

Abia State Police Commissioner, Oyebade Adeleye said that the command has strategically put in place measures that would guide against abduction of school students from their dormitory or on the way home.

He made this statement at the Police Headquarters in Bende Road, Umuahia, during the parade of suspected criminals who were accused of being involved in various hideous crimes that include rape, murder, armed robbery, stealing and snatching of vehicles amongst many others.

The items recovered from them include televisions, phones, money, AK-47 rifles, live ammunition, locally made pistols and two vehicles.

According to the CP, the suspects, if found guilty, would be arraigned in court to face the full wrath of law.

One of the suspects is a 23-year-old motorcycle operator from Lokpaukwu, carrying the picture of the lifeless body of the 65-year-old victim whom he allegedly raped and later murdered. He refused to admit to the crime.

Another suspect is Nwaka Aka from Owo Ahia Afor in Obingwa Local Government Area, who specializes in buying stolen goods from an armed robber.

The Police Commissioner hinted that the command is also making efforts to prevent abduction and kidnapping in the schools across the state.

He urged all and sundry to partner with them by volunteering information at all times.

CBN's director, Tokunbo Martins message to all commercial banks in Nigeria

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has told the management of all the commercial banks in Nigeria to cancel any plan to sack some of  its workers.

CBN’s Director, Tokunbo Martins disclosed it at the Bankers’ Committee meeting held in Lagos today.

“One of the things we discussed was about the impending retrenchment in the banking industry. So, we understand that many banks staff are experiencing fears about possible retrenchment in the industry.
We discussed it among the banks and they are now committed to not retrenching their staff.
